A dental technician works in conjunction with dentists in order to construct orthodontic appliances, dentures, crowns, bridges, and veneers. A dentist usually forwards a technician a representation of their patient's mouth together with a prescription for the type of crown, bridge, or denture that is needed. A technician then produces a plaster cast of the mold. Technicians work with an assortment of materials and specialized tools. They might also focus on generating specific things such as full dentures, ceramics, partial dentures, or orthodontic appliances.
